The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved 0.0015% (15 μg/mL) tafluprost (Zioptan, Merck, under license from Santen Pharmaceutical Co, Ltd) as the first preservative-free prostaglandin analog ophthalmic solution for reducing elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
